Otherwise the whole thing has just been a huge waste of time and truly the biggest disappointment so far. Honestly I can barely find a single thing that has been good about the second season so far and I hope that these last episodes will at the very least amuse me a tiny bit before ending. Not sure who to blame since I have not read the light novel but I doubt that it's any better if it's even remotely similar. Honestly at this point I'm starting to hope that they won't even make a season 3 of the show since that would potentially just ruin the good memories that I have of the first season if they continue to go down this road where anime comes to die. In my opinion the show has completely lost track of what it's supposed to be and I do not think it can be saved by the remaining episodes in any way. all I can see in front of me are a bunch of Lizards getting their ass beat in the blink of an eye. When I think about the episodes that season 2 has provided so far.
If I look back at the first season, I can remember different story lines and enjoying more or less every minute of it. We have also seen Sebas walk around town completely aimless, gathering information for yet another build-up which seem to take a lot of time while not really accomplishing much apart from saving some prostitute-garbage and turning her into a maid. We have so far gotten a bunch of Lizardmen having sex in a hut and shortly thereafter being completely overtaken by cocytus in what was one of the longest build-ups yet shortest actual fight scenes I have ever witnessed during my time of watching anime. The music was insanely epic, the atmosphere was god-tier and there were just not much to point out as blatant flaws. What made Overlord so good was being able to follow Ainz, a true overpowered, stonecold, funny, and tactical overlord around on his conquest of taking over the world.
However, after watching the new episodes ranging from 1-9 (The other ones have yet been released) I simply do not find the show as entertaining anymore. I myself such as many others was happily surprised after watching the 12 episode season and could not wait to see the adventures of Ainz and his followers continue in the second season.
The first season of Overlord was insanely good compared to a lot of other things that get flushed out with insufficient world-building, underdeveloped characters, and uninteresting narratives. Now before you hit that downvote button I would like to explain a few things.
